Manufacturer: Sun Pharma
Pharmaceutical name: Sumatriptan
Pack: 1 pill (25 mg)
Suminat is a medication for headaches that constricts blood vessels in the brain. It lowers substances in the body that can lead to symptoms such as headache pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound, associated with migraines. Suminat is intended for the treatment of migraine headaches only. It will not prevent migraines or lessen the frequency of attacks. It should not be used for typical tension headaches, headaches that result in loss of movement on one side of the body, or any headaches that feel different from your usual migraines. Use this medication only if a doctor has confirmed your condition as migraine headaches.
You should not use Suminat if you are allergic to sumatriptan, have a history of heart disease, or suffer from coronary heart disease, angina, problems with blood circulation, reduced blood supply to the heart, uncontrolled hypertension, severe liver issues, ischemic bowel disease, a history of heart attack or stroke, or if your headache appears different from your typical migraines.
Do not take Suminat if you have: coronary heart disease, angina (chest pain), circulation problems, insufficient blood supply to the heart; a heart condition history, heart attack, or stroke, including "mini-strokes"; severe or poorly controlled high blood pressure; severe liver disease; ischemic bowel disease; or a headache that is different from your regular migraine headaches.
To use Suminat, take it as soon as you notice headache symptoms, or once an attack has started. Swallow one Suminat tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not break the tablet.
If the headache doesn't completely resolve or if it subsides and returns, take a second tablet two hours after the first. Do not exceed 200 mg of Suminat in a 24-hour period. If your symptoms do not improve, reach out to your doctor before taking additional tablets.
Discontinue Suminat and contact your doctor if you experience serious side effects such as: pain or tightness in your jaw, neck, or throat; chest discomfort or a heavy sensation, with pain radiating to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, or a general feeling of unwellness; sudden numbness or weakness, particularly on one side of the body; abrupt severe headache, confusion, trouble with vision, speech, or balance; sudden and intense abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea; seizures (convulsions); or numbness or tingling with a pale or blue tint in your fingers or toes.
